PREPARING YOUR BRIEF

HOW TO PLAN A VIDEO SHOOT

Video Production

Video Producers require clear briefs because it gives a clear insight into what your vision and expectations are around the video shoot. With that information, we can jump in on a conversation with you on the finer details or provide suggestions to value-add to your project.

I understand though that not every client is marketing-trained so here are some tips on how to brief us for your shoots:

Corporate Shoots
We typically receive two kinds of video requests for corporate shoots: Event Videos and Corporate Feature Videos

 

1. Event Videos
Event highlights videos usually come in two forms: With Interviews and Without Interviews
We will need to know the following information for us to better advise on next steps:

 

  • What is your event schedule rundown like?

  • Where is the event going to be held?

  • How many pax is expected to turn up for this?

  • Are there any VIPs, Ministers or Media coming as a part of this event?
     

  • Do you require interviews with stakeholders/participants/organisers? (If yes, please refer to the sub-bullet points)

    • How many interviewees are there?

    • How long do you have for each interview? (We strongly recommend buffering at least 30 mins per interview)

    • Do you require multiple angles of these interviews/speeches?​

    • Do you require a teleprompter or is there a prepared script?

    • Would you like the speakers to look straight into the camera or off-camera towards the interviewer?

    • Is there a quiet room to do this recording, or is it going to be an open space with potential noise pollution?

    • Do you require individual transcripts?

    • Do you require a scripting service?
       

  • Do you require us to record any speeches?

    • Is there an on-site AV crew for us to tap audio from?

  • What is your output like? Would it be in 4K or Full HD? 16:9 or 9:16? 

  • How long is your output video? 2-3 Mins or 30-60s?

  • What is the desired mood of the video? 

  • Do you have any reference videos you'll like us to draw inspiration from?

  • What is your budget range? With this information, we can better tailor the production value of the video to your needs.

  • When is your deadline?
     

Timeline for Event Highlights Shoots

Digestion of brief/clarifications - 1 to 3 days

Planning/scheduling - 2 to 3 weeks

Shoot - Depends on no. of days required

Post-processing (inclusive of feedback) - 3 to 5 weeks

2. Corporate Feature Videos

These type of videos require a lot more planning and pre-production. We will require the following information:
 

  • Do you require pre-production services such as scripting, storyboarding, location scouting etc?
     

  • Do you require interviews or voiceovers with stakeholders? (If yes, please refer to the sub-bullet points)

    • How many interviewees are there?

    • How long do you have for each interview? 

    • Do you require multiple angles of these interviews/speeches?​

    • Do you require a teleprompter or is there a prepared script?

    • Would you like the speakers to look straight into the camera or off-camera towards the interviewer?
